Horace "Hobie" Chandor

Horace M. “Hobie” Chandor, Jr. died peacefully at home on April 14, 2018. Born on December 8, 1948, he was a retired school teacher who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by parents Horace and Elizabeth Chandor. He is survived by his sisters, Linda (Clifford) Bukoski, Vicky (Terry) George and Robin (Charles) Bowie. He is also survived by his nieces Tina (Mustafa), Erica and Olivia and nephews Lucas and Wyatt as well as his great nieces Hailey, Tyleia and Neah and great nephews Zachary and Cameron. Also surviving are his beloved cousin Patricia Rodenhauser, Aunt Gladys Rowles and numerous cousins and dear friends. Hobie was a high school science teacher for over 28 years. He so enjoyed sharing his love of science with his students, or as he would say "his kids". He was truly dedicated to helping his kids learn; failure was not an option. Hobie was a faithful member of Elks Lodge # 2332. He took great pride and joy in spearheading many of their annual events and fundraisers including their annual Thanksgiving Day buffet and their drug awareness program. He loved playing poker with his good friends, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved football, volleyball, diving and golf, and looked forward to his annual golf outing with his buddies. He also was a lover of cats; there never was one too many in his opinion. For every stray cat that showed up on his porch, he was quick to take them to the vet and then bring them home to care for them.
