Beloved husband of 65 years to Elisabeth and loving father of Georg, Dolores, Thomas and the Late James. Mr. Shultz retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sargent after 22 years of service. He was a perfectionist by heart. Loved hiking, camping and all sports but his favorite was spending time with family and friends not only here but in Germany as well Hubert Shultz, age 88, died in his home in Temple Hills, Maryland on December 5, 2014. He was born in 1926 in Nebraska. Hubert was an outstanding student and athlete in high school. He played left tackle on the football team and placed second two years in a row in the state track and field meet for the shot put. He joined the Army after graduating and served in Germany where he met his wife of 65 years, Elisabeth. He later joined the Air Force to be near his ailing father. He served in Germany and Italy as well as various duty stations stateside. Always a proponent of education he pursued his degree graduating from the University of Maryland over 20 years after high school. He was also very proud that he could speak in 3 languages. Upon his retirement from the Air Force he settled in with the Potomac Electric Power Company where he worked for 20 years before retirement. In retirement he traveled often to Germany to visit his wife’s family and to work on their farm. He loved the simple things life had to offer. Family and friends were his priority. Shenandoah National Park was a special place for him. He vacationed there with his family many times. He loved photography, camping and hiking. He was a good role model and always thought of others before himself. If there was anyone you could count on it would be Opa. He was proud of his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by Elisabeth, his wife, of 65 years and will be missed by all.
