Son of Hubert Ray Walters, Sr. and his wife Virginia, Ray was born in Sophia, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 50 years Betty and his brother Fred. Ray is survived by three sisters Janie, Alma and Carolyn; sons Paul (Lynn), Jerry (Darlene), Ray (Susan), and Dan (Lois) Walters; daughter Jeannie Walters Moore; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and his faithful companion Buddy. Ray served 8 years in the National Guard before being honorably discharged. He was a union carpenter for over 30 years until he retired. He loved camping, fishing, spending time with family, and watching the Nationals and Capitals. His hobbies included coin collecting, woodworking and rebuilding trucks. Of Pentacostal faith, Ray worshipped at Grace Gospel Worship Center where he also served as the maintenance minister and helped with many major projects for the church. He was a tough but caring man who believed in hard work, honesty and keeping your word. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to The St.Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org
