Hugh “Butch” Clower, Sr., 78, of Chesapeake Beach, MD, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Butch was born on February 13, 1941 in Takoma Park, MD to Frank and Virginia (Clatterbuck) Clower. He served as an Airman in the US Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant from the Prince George’s Fire Department, serving proudly as a firefighter and instructor for more than 20 years. Butch had a passion for fishing, hunting, camping, crabbing, gardening and drinking beer. Butch loved his family and spent much of his free time coaching, mentoring and relaxing with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his days on the beach looking at the water, taking a drive around town, or watching the Redskins play. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. Butch was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Ann (Lee) and his oldest son, Hugh “Butchy” Hilton Clower, Jr. He is survived by his son, John Mitchell Clower and his wife Julie (Hanko) Clower, and their son, John Mitchell Clower, Jr. as well as his daughter Laura Lee (Clower) Garner and her husband Paul G. Garner and their children Devin Michael Garner and Mollie Brooke Garner. Family will be receiving guests from 4-8pm on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, MD. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, November 15 at 11am at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, MD with burial to follow at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, MD.
