Irene Marie Gignac Irene Marie Gignac, 70, of Owings, MD, formerly of University Park, MD died on Monday, January 1, 2007, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. She is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Gignac; children, Helen L. Repass, Edward L. Gignac, Daniel M. Gignac, Nathan J. Gignac and Lois M. Gignac; grandchildren, Jeffery, Ashleigh and T.J. Repass, Amy, Nikki, Lindsey, Bethany, Sarah, Jessica, Natalie and Nathan Gignac, Zachary, and Benjamin Jackson and Amber and Chloe Wonders; and sister of Mary Stevenson of Lusby, Maryland and Evelyn Benedetti of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Irene is predeceased in death by her sister Patricia Parker. Irene was born October 30, 1936 in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Leroy and Helen Louise Greenwald. Her childhood was spent in Suitland, Maryland. She married Joseph E. Gignac on June 2, 1956. Due to her husbands service in the US Air Force, Irene was stationed in Turkey, Germany, San Antonio, Texas and Maryland. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her five children. Her passion was her family. Enjoying family events and spending time with her 15 grandchildren. Irene made lifelong friends through the years. She was known for being a great communicator. Family will receive friends at the LEE FUNERAL HOME, CALVERT, P.A., 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd., (Rt. 4 at Fowler Rd.) Owings, MD on Sunday, from 2 to 6 pm where a service will be held on Monday, January 8th, at 1:00 p.m. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers are Jeffery Repass, Jr., T.J. Repass, Nathan Gignac, Benjamin and Zachary Jackson, and John Harms, IV.
