Irene M. McGroarty, 87, \n \nOf Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on May 7, 2010. \n \nShe was born in Mullens, WV. She was a school secretary at Carmody Hills Elementary School in Prince George's County and retired in 1987 after 19 years of service. She loved to play bingo and go to Atlantic City. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.\n \nShe is survived by son, John E. Stringer of LaPlata and his wife Carole, daughters, Judy Zirkle of Raleigh, NC and her husband Gary, Maureen M. Moore of Mechanicsville and her significant other Vernon Heiston; 4 grandchildren: Ed, Donna, Carin and Scott; 3 great-grandchildren: Quinlan, Nolan and Gabriella; sister Violet Stricker of San Antonio, TX, and many other nieces and nephews.\n \nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
