LCDR Jacob P. Smith, USN RET. On Wednesday April 10, 2013 died peacefully at the age of 93. Jake resided in Ocean View, DE. formerly of Temple Hills, Md. Jake served his country during WWII and the Korean War. He remained in the United States Navy for 23 years. During those years he served on the USS Intrepid CV-11, USS Columbus CA-74, USS Borie DD-704, USS Keller DE-419 and Honolulu CL-48. Some of Jakes awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 7 Stars.. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean Smith, three sons, John, Timothy and Charles Smith and two daughters, Jean Marie and Patricia Smith. Jake is survived by his three sons; Michael, Jeffrey (Tracy) and Jacob Smith, his four daughters; Sheila (Robert) Peaper, Rita Smith, Tina (Glenn) Marcy and Rose (Donald) Huff. Loving Grandfather to 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Following the interment friends are invited to the Colony South Hotel Clinton, Md. from 1 to 3pm.
