James Thomas Carbine

February 5, 1925 — April 24, 2013

James T. Carbine Jr., 88, died April 24, 2013 while on a cruise ship in the Red Sea. He is preceded in death by his wife Jean Conklin Carbine of 52 years and sons James Thomas and Thomas Michael, and his siblings, Margery C. Huver and Joseph J. Carbine. He is survived by his siblings, Mary Daily, Patricia T. and Thomas J. Carbine. He has two daughters Cynthia A. Carbine of Pittsburgh, Gail E. Kavanagh and son in law James F. Kavanagh of Indiana. He has five grandchildren Katherine Carbine and Matthew, Kathleen, Joseph, and John Paul Kavanagh. Jim Carbine was raised in Villanova, PA. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Preparatory Scholl ‘42, West Point Military Academy ‘46 and George Washington University, MBA ‘69. He was a Colonel in the Air Force and a pilot. After his USAF retirement in 1975, he worked at Computer Science Corporation for 14 yrs and Modern Technology Corp for 7 yrs. After retirement he volunteered to help seniors with their income taxes. He was a devoted father and grandfather. Our dad always woke up with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He believed that education was the most important thing in life. He was very generous with his family, neighbors and his many charities. He will be buried with his wife and sons in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton MD. The wake will be Friday, May 31, 6-8 pm at Lee’s Funeral Home in Clinton, MD and the funeral will be Saturday, June 1, 12:15 pm at St. Philip the Apostle in Suitland, MD.
