James Arthur "Archie" Doyle

James Arthur Doyle, Sr. better known as “Archie” was born on September 8, 1936, in Washington, DC.  He grew up in Suitland, MD along with his siblings Harry, Ada, Gertrude, George, Catherine, & Ellis. 

He had various jobs throughout his life.  He was a gas station attendant, a produce seller, a fence assembler, & then he went into the Plasterers Union 96 for over 40 years until he retired. If you’ve been into any old building in Washington, DC (museums, The White House, The Capital, The Treasury, The FBI, churches) you’ve seen his work.

He was happily married to JoAnn for 67 years. They have 4 children, Jim, Debbie, Tony, & Dawn. They have 4 grandchildren, Jimmy (JJ), Tony, Michael, & Kelly. They have 2 great grandchildren, Alaina & Logan.

He liked fishing, crabbing, playing cards, gardening, long scenic drives, & looking at old cars & trucks.

He passed away on July 17, 2022, after a long, hard battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed.

His viewing is at Lee Funeral Home Wednesday, July 27, from 3:00-7:00pm. A service will be held in the chapel at Lee Funeral Home, Inc., on Thursday, July 28, at 11:00am followed by the graveside service at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
