James William Hobbs Sr.

James William Hobbs, Sr. of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Murial Hobbs. Devoted father to James William Hobbs, Jr. (Leigh), Debbie Ritchey (Michael), Georgia Pierce, Ricky Zimmerman (Debbie), Trudy Smith, Roxanne Dunn (Ronnie), Cindy Dwier, Barbara Roy (Michael) and Janet Padgett. Also left to cherish his memory are his loving nephews and niece David, Phil and Susan and grandchildren Thomas, Tyler, Trent, Jacob, Hannah, Jennifer, Jason, Jessica, Melissa, Brian, Susan, Jesse, Nikki, Sherri, Shela, Joshua, Kristen, Russell and Leslie, as well as a host of greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Snodgrass and Sarah Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 and treasured his travels all over the United States. His greatest passion was his large variety vegetable garden, where he grew everything from turnips to corn, which he generously shared with friends, relatives and neighbors. He also enjoyed his time riding around on his tractor. Family will receive guests on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735, with a service following at 12:00 in the Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
