James Francis Holland Sr., age 89 of Clinton, MD passed away on May 2, 2016. Jim was born in Buffalo, NY to Merton & Elizabeth Holland on October 23, 1926. He grew up in Buffalo until joining the Navy in 1944 to serve in WWII. After discharge, he went back to Buffalo and worked for the Buffalo Press until joining the Franciscans (OFM) He served as a Brother OFM for a number of years at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, Washington, DC. Later, he worked as an engineer, a small business owner and married Jacqueline Harman on September 18, 1965 at St Matthews Cathedral, Washington, DC. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, lived in Clinton, MD and were parishioners of St John the Evangelist for 44 years. Jim loved life, his family, reunions in Buffalo, friends, and traveling with his lifelong partner, Jackie. He worked for the past 25 years at NASA - Goddard. He was a 70 year member of the Knights of Columbus, a Eucharistic Minister, member of American Legion Post 259, Clinton, member of International Union of Operating Engineers (Local 99). Jim was a longtime supporter of the Missionaries of Charity soup kitchen in Washington, DC Jim is preceded in death by his parents Merton & Elizabeth & 7 brothers and sisters. Jim is survived by his spouse Jackie, Karen (daughter), Jimmy (son) & Deirdre (daughter in law) along with three grandchildren, Amanda, Jacqueline, & Rebecca.
