James “Jim” Edward Jackson, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at his residence in Chesapeake Beach, MD. Jim was born on January 20, 1943. He loved his family, watching his granddaughters drag race and the Washington Redskins. He served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, as a Tactical Coordinator/Navigator on a P3Orion with the rank of LTJG. Upon release from active duty he worked for Naval Sea Systems Command as an investigator for the Inspector General’s Office. Jim retired as a Contract Specialist in January 2007. His family remember him as the “go to guy” when it came to electronics, mechanics, etc. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, his children Joseph Jackson (Victoria), Diana Pumphrey (Frank) and Janet Belt (Michael). He is also survived by his grandchildren Brittany Thomas, Shane Thomas (Sabrina), Shelby Page (Steve), Amber Jackson, Olivia Mordecai, Ashley and Hailey Pumphrey and great-grandchildren Brennan, Savannah and Shea Thomas, Gabriella Jackson and Emma Page. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Jackson and his granddaughter, Megan Jackson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM in the Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 12:00 PM. Interment will following at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 21032.
