James B. Wittkamp

James Wittkamp\nJames “Witty” Wittkamp of Waldorf, a longtime sales associate for nearly 20 years at Three Mules Welding Supply Co. in Mechanicsville, died of liver cancer on February 13th at his sister’s home in Clarksville, Md. He was 61.\n Jim made his home in Waldorf for the past 35 years.\n Better known by friends and colleagues as “Witty” and “Spike,” Jim was loved by customers who shopped at the two southern Maryland welding stores. Shoppers and friends described him as a giving and kind person who would teach them welding and show them anything in the store. Wittkamp was a devoted employee to “Three Mules,” never wanting to miss a day of work and loving what he did.\n James Bernard Wittkamp was born on November 25th, 1949 in Norfolk, Va. to Bernard and Hilda Wittkamp. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Adelphi, Md. From the time he was a teenager, Wittkamp enjoyed working on cars. He loved Volkswagon antique cars, owning a 1949 split window and 1963 Bettle Bug. At the age of only 14, “Witty”appeared on the popular television game show, “The Price is Right,” where he won an airplane and other prizes.\n Wittkamp attended grade school at St. Marks Parish in Hyattsville, Md. He graduated from High Point High School in Beltsville, Md in 1967 and attended a year of college at Prince George’s County Community College.\n Survivors include his mother, Hilda Wittkamp of Dayton, Md, two children, James Wittkamp of Crownsville, Md, Philip Wittkamp of Severna Park, Md, a sister, Jocelyn O’Neill of Clarksville, MD and two nieces and a nephew.\n A viewing will be held Friday February 18th, at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd.
