Jane Frances Chick, 81, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away on the evening of December 21, 2023 with family by her side.
Jane, called Janie by many was born August 27, 1942 to Frances Daveiga in Allegheny County in Pennsylvania.
Frances raised Jane and her brother, Mike Daveiga in Washington D.C. where Jane met Charles Chick whom she would later marry and remain by his side for 56 years. They made homes in Bladensburg and Cheltenham, Maryland before they retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Most recently Jane and Charles have called Prince Frederick their home where they lived with their sons Mike and Russell Chick, Maria Hernandez, and their three grandchildren, Jesse Chick, Sarra Chick, and Gabriella Hernandez. Jane has remained close to her brother Mike who currently lives in California
Jane always made caring for her family a priority from helping to raise her younger brother, then raising her sons and taking care of her own mother, all while looking after her husband and finally doting on her grandchildren.
Jane started an administrative career with the National Institute of Health; but left after a few years to raise her sons. Later she returned to the work force with several small companies as an office manager.
Beyond being an infinitely caring wife, mother and grandmother, Jane loved all animals - always with concern for the most helpless. She had an affinity for Saint Jude, the Patron Saint of Hope and impossible causes.
Jane found joy in rooting for the Washington Redskins, and listening to Kenny Rogers. She also loved watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy; although she hated to see people take extra spins of the wheel when they knew the puzzle or wager more than they needed to win.
Jane would appreciate contributions to worthy charities with a thought to her.
