Jane E. Jones, 90, of District Heights, MD, died peacefully on February 12, 2016, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born near Pamplin, VA in 1925 to Beulah and James Roach. Her family moved to Washington DC during the Great Depression and she attended Maryland Park High School. During WW II she married her first husband Herbert T. Smith and worked at Red Cross Headquarters in Washington D.C. Later she was a secretary at both the Teamsters and Machinist union headquarters. She remarried to Parker O. Jones and became a homemaker residing in District Heights, MD. In marriage she traveled widely, including four times to Europe. She was an accomplished baker known for her decorated cakes, once baking a cake for President Ford. As a widow she became a devoted friend and companion to former neighbor Hilmer Krebs. She was an active member in both the United Christian Church and Bethany Christian Church. In addition, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 25 years and for a period was co-owner of Aqua Pets in Camp Springs, MD. Beloved wife of the late Parker O. Jones; loving mother of Joan R. Tucker of Odenton, MD, William P. Jones of District Heights, MD and Kimberly L. Jones of Martinsburg, WV; dear grandmother of Terrance R. Tucker, Renée F. Johnston, Kristina M. Vestermark-Jones, Anna K. Vestermark-Jones, James L. Parkes and William P. Ross; great-grandmother of Terrance R. Tucker, Jr., Jessica A. Tucker and Katylin E. Tucker.
