Janet Elizabeth Fitzgerald

Janet Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Prince Frederick peacefully passed away at the age of 92 on April 30, 2022, surrounded by family, including three of her great-grandchildren. They sang the hymn “In the Garden” as she transitioned into the afterlife.

Janet, née Janet Given, was the loving mother of four: Audrey Martin (husband Charles [deceased]) of Dunkirk, Maryland; Thomas Buck (wife Carol) of Anderson, South Carolina; Mary Lou Wilkinson (husband Mark) of Reston, Virginia; and Patrick Buck [deceased] (wife Shirley).

Her legacy will be continued by her eleven grandchildren (Kathleen McAllister, Charles Martin, Sarah Peterson, Marie Buck, Thomas Buck, Kristin Presberg, Catherine Cox, Molly Wimmer, Johnny Wilkinson, Kristina Caudle, and Jennifer Buck), their spouses, her soon-to-be 33 great-grandchildren, her step-children (Kathleen, Russell, Patty, and Mark Fitzgerald), and her dear nieces and nephews and their families.

The longest residence Janet had during her life filled with adventure was her first floor apartment at Calvert Pines where she enjoyed her many friends and elaborate gardening space. She loved to feed the variety of birds and all other wildlife that came along.

Janet held special love for her hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and a desire to be reunited with those who preceded her in death. Her family is thankful that she is joining her parents (Mae and Arthur Given), sister (Helen Yuhas), brother (Arthur Given), husband (John Fitzgerald), and beloved son (Patrick Buck).

The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert 8200 Jennifer Lane Owings, MD 20736 on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Dunmyer Cemetery Salix, PA 15952 on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
