Janet M. Worthington

Janet May Worthington (age 84) On June 12th, 2021 Janet passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Her parents, Ira and Alma Worthington, predeceased her. She is survived by many cousins and friends who knew, and loved her, and her generous ways. When she was active in the church she was the manager of the Help By Phone Food Pantry at the District Heights Presbyterian Church. When that church closed she moved her membership to Hope Presbyterian Church on Enterprise Road in Mitchellville and continued to spend many hours each week helping with the program. She also volunteered for the Warm Nights winter relief program and prepared many dinners for the guests there. Janet was an active member of Hope and an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA. Janet taught elementary school in Prince George's County schools before her retirement. In retirement she spent time enjoying nature, had several cat companions and was a lover of birds, squirrels and deer. She was a proud American who enjoyed a lively political discussion in her thoughtful and quiet way. She was a one of a kind and will be sorely missed by all. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the ASPCA in Janet’s name. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10:00 am -11:00 am as it’s a closed casket with short service at 11:00 am in the Funeral Home Chapel.
