Janice (Jan) Marie Gielda (nee Cluck), was called home to our Father to continue to praise Him with saints in heaven from a new vantage point. Jan was an extra-ordinary wife and golf partner, exemplary mother, loving and doting grandmother, a caring and tender great grandmother, and an attentive and faithful friend. \n \nJan knew service and lived it in her daily life at home, at work, at church and in the community. She was sensitive to the feelings of all she encountered and generous with her time and talent to all in need. She lovingly converted her father from a crotchety, hardened veteran of two wars into a thankful and warm man. Near the end of his life, for the first time, she heard the wonderful words, “I love you, Honey”. It was a gift from God to a good and faithful servant.\n \nJan’s life was taken in a head-on collision by a young man who crossed the median into her vehicle in southern Illinois just an hour below where she spent her formative years. Charges are pending. \n \nShe is survived by a family who loved her as she loved others; her husband (Richard) of 46 years; her sons, Scott, (Catherine), Steven (Sherry), Stacy (Liz) and daughter Melissa Barry (Michael) and eight grandchildren, Kayla Gielda, Jenna Wiley, Steven Wiley, Chase Gielda, CJ Wiley, Madison Gielda, Katie Elmer, and Andrew Dwarshuis. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren. Beyond her immediate family, she is also survived by a sister Jacqueline (Jackie), nephew Douglas, niece Marnie (Noah), and four great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.\n \nA Celebration of Jan’s life will begin at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland on Tuesday, November 24th from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm. The memorial mass will be in Dunkirk, Maryland at The Covenant Community of Jesus the Good Shepherd November 25th. Internment will be in Clinton, Maryland at Resurrection Cemetery. A memorial service is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. December 16th in Prescott Valley, AZ at St. Germaine’s Catholic Community.
