Jayvel Caleek Waters, departed this earth and transitioned from his earthly home to the heavens on Friday, December 31 at the age of 32. He was a DC native. Jayvel grew up in the LeDeroit Park area of Washington, DC where he attended, Gage Eckington Elementary, Shaw Jr. High and graduated from Cardozo High School Class of 2010. Jayvel was a beast on the court and love, love, loved Basketball and working hard. He went on to further his education and earned his Plumbers Certification from DC Job Corps with a 3.5 grade point average. Jayvel had many talents and was always helpful especially on the construction sites when others needed to utilized his height to reach above their means. Over the years, Jayvel worked at CVS, Postmates, Uber, Dollar General, but his favorite career choice was working as a Rod-man in the construction/labor field of work like his late Dad, Robert Perkins. Jayvel worked on many projects to help revitalize the DC Metropolitan Area to include: The Bible Museum, many other buildings in which he completed all the training and requirements to successfully work at the work-sites his stickers proudly on his hard hat. Jayvel was a private person, but also was protective in his own sense. Despite the pain he endured over the years, he never truly shared the extent of his pain and would do anything to keep the ones he loved from knowing the pain he countered on a daily basis. Jayvel loved to dream big ideas about the future. Those Jayvel allowed in his space soon realized that he was a very hard worker and an amazing father, brother and uncle. He was big on being an individual and thinking for himself. Jayvel fought until he took his last breath. Jayvel was proceeded in death by his Father Robert Willie Perkins, his daughter Angel Waters (Jaylyn's twin), his brother Damond Waters and his sister Patricia Perkins.
