Jeannette Ann Chilton

August 27th, 1933 – August 4th, 2022

Jeannette Ann Chilton (Monk) passed away peacefully the morning of August 4th, 2022. After a triumphant battle with Dementia, she has returned home to be with her Lord.

Born to her late mother, Jennie Bell Jowers and father, Henry Monk, Jeannette had a beautiful life that began in Quincy, Florida. One of six siblings, Jeannette is surely reunited with her sisters Geraldine (Gerry) Betts, Mary Lou Monk, and brothers Harold, James (Bud), and Paul Monk in heaven.

To say she led a full life would be an understatement. Before becoming a wife and mother of four, Jeannette had already accomplished and experienced so much. She was a gifted majorette for her high school, mastering the art of baton twirling, along with a passion for softball, which she would continue to play later in life through her church league. In her early adulthood, Jeannette worked as an administrative secretary under the authority of J. Edgar Hoover at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Mr. Hoover himself wrote a congratulatory letter blessing the marriage to her soulmate, Francis Raymond Chilton, who passed away in November of 2016.

Jeannette and ‘Ray’ were married on Oct. 11th, 1952, at Boulevard Heights Baptist Church by Ray’s father Rev Francis M. Chilton, in front of friends and family from both the D.C. area and Jeannette’s hometown of Quincy, FL. They would go on to build a family and start a business of their own in the printing industry, which was family owned & operated for over 20 years.

She was well known and loved by her church family. Not only was she involved in most church functions, celebrations, and volunteer work, but she also worked as a Sunday school teacher when she could. Jeannette formed many lasting relationships over the years. She loved to cook! Her recipes were published in several Church Cookbooks and are still cherished by family members & friends to this day. Jeannette’s grandchildren will confirm that her meatloaf and desserts were the best on the planet. She will forever be remembered for the fabulous celebrations she held. Not a stone was left unturned when Jeannette threw a party, holiday event, dinner, or a simple gathering…she had a true talent and love for pouring her efforts into perfecting an experience for all in attendance. It would bring her pure joy to see her friends & family light up.

Jeannette was a true beauty of her time. There was a confidence in her posture. She was always graceful with her replies, stern in her decisions, and routine with her love and devotion to God and her husband. She will be deeply missed by those who had the honor to know and love her.

Jeannette is survived by her children Sherry Keefer (husband Steve) & Francis (Buddy) Chilton Jr.; grandchildren Bradley Fiedler (wife Kelly), Kevin Keefer (wife Teresa), and Jillian Flinspach (husband Christopher); great grandchildren Makaylah Fiedler, Illiana Brewer, Sophia Keefer, Kai Flinspach, and Dax Flinspach; nieces Jennie Betts Honea (husband Doyle), Charlene Betts Saunders (husband Tony), Beth Betts Perkins (husband Michael), and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Jeannette will be reunited in heaven with husband Francis ‘Ray’ Chilton & twins Henry Michael Chilton and Helen Michelle Rodante Chilton.

John 3:16 ~

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
