Jennie Marescalco

Giovonnina (Jennie) Marescalco, 102, of Camp Springs, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 24, 2021. Jennie was born on August 20, 1919, to the late Joseph and Carmela Rizzo who were ministers in the Italian Church in Washington, DC. She was one of 12 children each having a strong bond to the family through ministering with their parents. Along with her brothers and sisters, she played several instruments in the church orchestra. She enjoyed ministering by playing the piano for children's church services. Jennie would often accompany her parents on visits to church members which instilled in her a kind, sweet spirit of serving others. Jennie met Nicholas W. Marescalco while attending church and they married on October 20, 1946. After living in Washington the early part of their marriage, they built their home in Camp Springs, MD, living there for 60 years and raising their 4 children, Raymond Marescalco (Alida), Cynthia Deemer (Donald), Kenneth Marescalco (Nena), and Janice Catania (James). Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas in April 2001. She is survived by her 4 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Rizzo. Join our family in celebrating Jennie’s life at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Road, in Clinton, MD on Thursday, December 9, 2021, from 4-7 PM and December 10 at 10 AM with a service to follow at 11 AM. Internment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD. Jennie held a special place in her heart for children.
