After her schooling, Jennie embarked on a varied professional career, finding employment with organizations like the the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Airline Pilots Association in addition to working at various car dealerships. Jennie's personal life was defined by her long-term partnership of 37 years with her late companion, Joyce Houchens their son Joseph Houchens. Following Joyce's passing, Jennie moved in with her son Joseph, his husband Curtis King, and their two daughters Jordyn and Alexis, who Jennie considered to be her "guardian angels" in her final years. Jennie is survived by her sister Mary Wilson and brother James Sullivan and their children and great grandchildren, though she was predeceased by her older sister Helen Woodford and her parents.
