Jersey Raffaele Spittle

June 10, 1928 — January 6, 2021

Jersey R. Spittle, 92, of Ocean City, MD, passed away peacefully surrounded by both of her children on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born in New Jersey and is the daughter of John and Josephine Coratolo, who immigrated from Italy to the United States. Jersey was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1999, sister Elvina Charuhas and brothers Leo and Louie Coratolo. After many years of working, Jersey retired from the Naval Oceanographic office. During this time, she was also a supportive wife to Walter Spittle who was a Captain for the Naval District of Washington Fire Department and a volunteer firefighter at Hillside in Prince George's County, Md. Jersey also volunteered with the Hillside Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. There is no doubt Jersey loved her family and her time in Ocean City, Md. It was a special place where she had a home next to all of her siblings. The compound was a place to gather, especially in the summers, with loved ones and to make memories to last a lifetime. The countless cookouts, Fourth of July fireworks and cousins playing together summer after summer were precious moments in time etched in her heart. You could also often find Jersey spending a great deal of time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going for long walks on the boardwalk and shopping at the outlets. In addition, she had a very close relationship with her sisters-in-law Flossie and Lois and spent a great deal of time with them until their passing. Jersey loved her children and grandchildren, but her great-grandchildren were the highlight of her later life. Survivors include daughter, Donna ( Bob Freedman), son Ronnie (Jeannie), Blora Coratolo (sister), grandchildren, Michael (Melinda), Michelle (Charlie), Robert, Ryan, Connie, Bethany and great-grandchildren, Chase, Shelby, Kaelyn, Savanna, Ally, Clinton, baby Charlee and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. The family will receive friends at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM where a Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
