In Loving Memory of Jimmy Lou BankstonJimmy Lou Bankston was born March 21, 1957 in Athens, Georgia. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2013. Born to the late Mattie Lou and Robert Bankston whom preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Lavonne Bankston, Cora Allen (mother-in-law), Fred Allen, Jr. (father-in-law), Olette Bankston-McCoy (daughter), two grandchildren Sheree McCoy and Olette McCoy, and three brothers that preceded him in death (Willie Bankston, Lenton Bankston and Clinton Bankston). Jimmy originally resided in Athens, GA and came to Washington, DC to look for a better start sometime in 1974. He landed a job at the Hechinger Company in Landover, Maryland, and worked there for 10 years. After a number of years employed at Hechinger, he the continued his warehouse profession with Giant Food Distribution Center in Jessup, Maryland, and worked there 17 years until going home with the Lord. Jimmy loved his job and was hard-working. He also loved fishing, football (Dallas Cowboy fan), cooking on the grill, hanging with the boys and keeping things spotless (home and car).He leaves to cherish his memories to three sisters, Annie Bankston of Athens, GA, Catherine "Cat" Bankston of Suitland, MD, Carolyn Sheppard (Lonnie) of Athens, GA; three brothers, Joe Bankston (Flora) of Athens, GA, John Bankston (Valerie) of Athens, GA, Anthony Bankston (Cassandra) of Athens, GA; two sisters-in-law, Karen Morgan (Curtis) and Deanna Garrett (Kevin); three brothers-in-law, Fred Allen, Sr., Vincent Allen (Yvette), and Sgt. Dwarne Allen; three aunts, Annie Bell Sims of Washington, GA, Bertha Sims of Washington, GA and Eva Sims of Freehold, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
