Joan M. Burke

Joan Mace Burke,\n \n Age 75, a resident of Camp Springs, MD departed this life at the University of Maryland Medical Center on April 15, 2011. She had been seriously ill for several months. \n \nShe was born in Valley Head, West Virginia a daughter of the late Norman and Iva Mace. She is survived by two sisters, Jean Yokum of Poquoson, Virginia and Janice Barthalow of Mill Creek, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews and a special friend E. L. Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Burke and three brothers, Norman Mace, Jr. “Snappy,” Ray James Mace “Elmer” and Buhl Jennings Mace. \n \nShe graduated from Tygarts Valley High School and Clarksburg Business College. She retired from the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Joan will be missed by her family and all her friends whom she made laugh whenever they were in her presence. \n \nThe family will receive friends at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins, West Virginia on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Valley Head Cemetery.
