Joanne SchmidtJoanne C. Schmidt, age 75, of Temple Hills, Maryland passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on October 8, 2013. Beloved daughter of the late William and Florence Fisher; predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years Charles Schmidt; loving mother of Kevin Schmidt (Gina) and Karen Posey and an adoring grandmother.She was an active member the Red Hat Society and a former member of both the Lioness Club and the Elks Lodge. In addition to raising her two children, she worked for the C & P Telephone Company. Joanne was an avid genealogical researcher, world traveler, and the author of the book “Tombstones of Ireland.” She supported the Humane Society and Bichon Rescue, and was the doting mother of her late Bichon Frise, Corky. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on October 16, 2013 at Lee Funeral Home, 6633 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. Clinton, MD 20735. Viewings will be on October 15th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on October 16th from 12:30 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Interment following the service at Washington National Cemetery.
