\nJohn Hanson Ambrose Born: 11 January 1923Died: 17 April 2012John H. Ambrose, age 89, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away on April 17. John was born and lived most of his life in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Holy Rosary High School and The Ohio State University School of Architecture. He was a licensed Architect and Professional Engineer. Early in his career he worked as an architect for Tibbals, Crumley & Musson, and after hours designed and built single family homes in Bexley and east Columbus. He had a long and successful career as a Structural Engineer at the Defense Construction Supply Center in Whitehall, Ohio, retiring in 1988.John served in the Army Air Forces during World War II as a Bombardier officer, flying in both B-24 and B-17 aircraft.He is survived by his wife, Venia of Jacksonville, FL; daughters Cheryl (Patrick) Hurley of New Lexington, Ohio; Gayla (Richard) Bergren of Upper Marlboro, MD; and son Van (Terri) of Gahanna, Ohio; grandchildren Shawn and Kathleen Hurley, Rebecca, Carol, Mikhail, Yuriy, and Jessica Bergren, Jonathan and Jeremy Ambrose, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Vance and Nellie; sister Edna, brother Vance Joseph, and special friend Rita Ambrose. A funeral service will be held at St. Thomas Church in Croom, Maryland beginning at 3PM Saturday, April 28 with burial in July in St Joseph's Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends consider a donation to the St. Thomas Parish bell tower repair fund.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
