John W Anthony, Sr.

On March 29, 2007 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Husband of the late Frances Marie Anthony. Father of John (Ruth) Anthony, Morningside Maryland, Larry (Carol) Martz and Tina Kenney, Ormond Beach, Florida. Also survived by 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Brother of Bill Anthony, Nick Kastellos, Joyce Mancini and Virginia Bowman. Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Martz; brothers, Tony and little Nicky Anthony; sisters, Mary Kerns and Dora Buckman.He served in the Army during the Korean war with the 82nd Airborne. He worked in Maryland as a journeyman baker for 32 years. John retired in 1984 and moved to Florida in 1989. In 1994 he joined the Citizens Observer Program in Volusia County. He worked as area director, district 3 and his volunteer service was acknowledged by President George W. Bush and his brother Gov. Jeb Bush. He retired from service in 2006 due to his health. He also owned and operated Anthony Security providing security to the Airline Academy in Daytona Beach. John loved to help people and serving his community.Family will receive friends at the LEE FUNERAL HOME, INC., Branch Ave. and Coventry Way Clinton, MD on Thursday April 5 from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Md.
