John F. Bilsky Sr.1932 - 2012John F. Bilsky Sr., 80, of Clinton, MD, formerly of Scranton, PA died Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Southern Maryland Regional Medical Center, Clinton, MD.Born in Scranton, PA, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Maziarz) Bilski. John graduated from West Scranton High School. Prior to retirement in 2001, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving two years, and later enlisting in the United States Air Force serving an additional twenty years. He finished his career with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency until his retirement. John was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for the past fifty-two years holding various positions including Grand Knight, ushered at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC since the program started twenty-seven years ago and head cook at many K of C functions. He enjoyed his many affiliations with social organizations and the many dear friends and acquaintances made throughout the years. John was a generous man who was loved by all who knew him. He was an avid Washington Redskins and Nationals fan, enjoyed the magic of holidays, vacations with family, crabbing, fishing, gardening, and special moments with his grandchildren. John was a devoted Husband, loving father and grandfather.Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years Jean (Babe) and son John Jr. and wife Cindy of Pelham, NH, two Grandchildren, John III and Alicia. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Joseph, three sisters, Florence Bilski, Genevieve Skejveland, and Frances Boyko.In addition to the services held in Maryland a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday October 17, 2012 beginning with a visitation at 9:30AM followed by the Mass at 12:00PM at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Scranton, PA.
