John C. Goodman Sr.

John C. Goodman, Sr. of Clinton, MD passed on December 4, 2016 at the age of 82. Born in Bertie County, NC, the son of Ella May and John Arthur Goodman. Not long after John’s birth, the family came to Maryland. He graduated from Armstrong High School in Washington, DC. In 1952, John joined the US ARMY. During his tour of duty, John earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and a Unit Citation. After his honorable discharge in 1955, John attended GI School until completion in 1959. John began an early passion for cooking as a cook during his military years. That passion continued to grow in him over the years as he hosted many family cookouts for his children, family and friends. After the military, John was employed at the HEW Federal Credit Union. He the began working for the Food & Drug Administration as a lab technician. He retired in 1989. He met Lillie Monica Gordon and they married on October 18, 1991, celebrating 25 years this past October. In addition to his family, John loved fishing, hunting and going on cruises. In addition to his parents, John was pre-deceased by his daughter, Valinda. He is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Goodman; dear children Jacquelynne, LaShawn, Timothy, Terrance, Joseph, John, Rodney, Kenny, and Angela.
