John "Pappy" Nicklow, Sr.

September 21, 1947 — May 31, 2016

John “Johnny” Nicklow, 68, of Dunkirk, MD passed away on May 31, 2016 in his home, surrounded by the love of his life. Johnny was born on September 21, 1947 in Acosta, PA to his mother Katherine, and father Rich Nicklow. In his teenage years he moved to Odenton, MD after pursuing a life of baseball, and spent a career as a dedicated member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Johnny enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and being an active member of Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, but he loved his family and his many trips camping on Chincoteague Island. Johnny was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Nicklow and brother Jerry Nicklow, and also his children John Jr. Nicklow, and Lisa Kirby Blake. He is survived by his love Treva Kirby; his siblings Marge Countryman, Genevieve Wolfe, and Joan McCartin; and his children Michael Nicklow, Susie Linton, Debbie Boyle, and Robin Strickler. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive relatives and friends on June 6, 2016 in a celebratory mass held at Jesus the Divine Word at 10:30 AM located at 885 Cox Rd, Huntingtown, MD 20639.
