John Howard Pearson, III

John H. Pearson III, aged 87, passed away on March 15th, 2024 in the presence of his loving wife and children in his home in Owings.  John was born on September 6, 1936, to John H. Pearson Jr. and Margaret Grisset Pearson, in Washington D.C.

John is survived by his loving wife Philomena (Ena); his daughter, Virginia Soboleski (Rob); and sons, Patrick Pearson, and Stephen Pearson (Karen).  John’s wonderful grandchildren include; Meghan Pearson, Kayla Scott (Ryan), Patrick Pearson, Grace Soboleski, Rose Soboleski, Samuel Myers, Katelyn Kovach (Matt), and Ashlyn Pearson.  He was also blessed with many great grandchildren. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased in death by his daughter, Catherine Pearson, and son John L. Pearson; both his parents; and his brothers James Pearson and Thomas Pearson.

John met the love of his life, Ena, when stationed with the U.S Navy in Derry, Northern Ireland.  They married at Saint Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry on October 15, 1956 and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past year.  He retired from PEPCO and spent his retirement days traveling with his wife, playing with his grandkids, making beautiful rosaries, and enjoying boating, fishing, and crabbing.  He was an active member of his church, Jesus the Good Shepherd, and the Knights of Columbus.

A funeral memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
