Joseph DeNavas, 69, of Dunkirk, Maryland, passed away on May 3, 2020, surrounded by his beloved family. Having grown up in Washington, District of Columbia, Joe attended Mackin High School as a devoted Catholic. However, after moving to Maryland Joe attended his last year at Suitland High School. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He transitioned to Reserves and was honorably discharged after 10 years of service. Joe eventually began work for Pepco Holdings, Inc., as a Power Planning Consultant, and continued his employment there for 46 years. Joe brightened every room he walked into with his infectious smile and sense of humor. He was selfless; always putting others before himself. Most importantly, he was a family man. Joe was deeply devoted to his wife of 38 years and to his three children. He filled their life with optimism. He always encouraged his children to be the best version of themselves and strive for greatness. His kind soul and generosity continues to live on through those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
