Joseph Adolph Grear

May 1, 1940 — June 16, 2018

Joseph Adolph Grear was born on May 1, 1940, in Washington, D.C. to the late Jesse Grear and Alean Toyer. The family resided in Historic Georgetown, which he shared with his two brothers, William “Billy” Toyer (Jean) and Frank Grear; two sisters: Alice Aderholt and Theresa Grear, all preceded him in death. Junior, affectionately called by his siblings, attended Catholic Schools, and graduated from Western High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, Junior started employment with Parking Management Incorporated, PMI, where he worked as a parking attendant and finished as a Manager of the 15th & L Street location. He met his devoted wife Christine Grear by a chance encounter at a sandwich shop, and they have been married for 45 years. He cherished his family, especially his daughter: Adriene Grear (affectionately known as his heart). He enjoyed spending time with his son: Clarence Grear (Lisa); and his grandchildren: Kyle Joseph and Miranda Simone. Junior was a member of St Luke Catholic Church in Washington, DC. He sung in the church choir and assisted in the planning of fundraising events for the choir. He was an avid sports fan, especially watching the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens. He also liked swimming, playing the piano, loved going to the movies, barbecuing, and bike riding with his wife. He worked for PMI for 44 years, and retired from PMI in 2002, and continued to work on a part-time basis with the Rizik’s Organization for 12 years. Through the years, he developed warm and lasting relationships with people he came across. Junior leaves behind to cherish his memories, wife, Christine; daughter Adriene; son Clarence (Lisa); grandchildren, Kyle and Miranda; sister-in-law Jean Toyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and many friends. A special thank you to Karen, his niece, who checked in on him, and took him to his favorite restaurant, Red Lobster.
