On April 26, 2021 Joseph Osie Harley, Sr was called suddenly to be with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Joseph was born March 26, 1931 in Upper Marlboro, MD to the late Margaret Olivia (Newman) and George Wallace Harley. Joseph worked 25 years for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, retiring in 1977 at the age 46. He continued running his lawn care business and his farm well into his 70’s before retiring for good. Joseph’s favorite pastimes were farming, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Monica Estelle; brothers: James Wallace, John William “Shorty”, Harold Leon; sisters: Mary Magdalene Harley, Patsy Ann Chapman; grandson Jarrett Andrew “Jay” Proctor; daughter Veronica Romaine “Roni” Simmons. Joseph leaves five children: Monica Joan Hodge, Joseph Osie Jr, Paul Ronald, Marie Doris Proctor, William Larry; two siblings: Gloria Olivia Newman (son Nathan), Francis Windell “Buddy” (son Alan); sister-in-law Beverly V.; eight grandchildren: Joseph Melvin “Joey” Hodge Jr, Robert Edward Aaron “Bobby” Harley, Justin Alan Harley, Paul Ronald “Ronnie” Harley Jr, Christopher Antonio “Chris” Harley, Charles William Proctor Jr, Tido Jermaine Proctor, Angela Nicola “Cola” Stone; son-in-law James Alton “Buddy” Proctor; three daughters-in-law: Cecilia Annette, Joanna Lee, Martha Louise; nine great-grandchildren: Julian (Joey), Gianna (Ronnie), Charlisse, Shanell & Tyron (Charles), Jermain & Portia (Tido), Jamar & Taylor (Cola), and many, many more nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Funeral arrangements: Visitation: 4:00 – 8:00 pm May 6, 2021 Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD. Service: 10:00 am May 7, 2021 St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Upper Marlboro, MD. Interment following Service: Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
