Joseph William Scanlon, 61, of North Beach, MD passed away on Jan 31, 2024 from stage four lung cancer. Joe was born on September 22, 1962 to Thomas Irving Scanlon Jr. & Willie Mae Henderson in Cheverly, MD.
After graduating from Bladensburg High School in 1981, he started his first Job at a restaurant as a night cook. His second job was an installer of shades & blinds for Suncontrol. Then he started his last job as an installer for GB Shades.
In 1984 he met the love of his life, Tina Haines. They married in 1987 and had three beautiful children, Joseph (Joei), Zachery (Zach), and Brittany.
Joe was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. JOE’S family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Joe was also a PASSIONATE & DIE-HARD DALLAS COWBOY FAN. He loved Stars Wars, and his favorite flower was a sunflower and he was a cat lover.
Anyone who knew Joe knew that he was a loving father and husband. Joe was predeceased by Thomas (Dad), Kathleen (Sister), Michael (Mikie, Brother), Laura (sister), Gino (Brother-in-law), and his son Joseph (Joei).
Joe is survived by his wife Tina and his children Zachery & Brittany, his mother Willie Mae, sister Terri, brother Thomas and his wife Donna, brother James and his wife Laurie, and sister Margaret and MANY nieces and nephews, and great nephews & nieces.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm where a Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private.
The family request all flowers and notes are sent to Lee Funeral Calvert.
