Josephine Lena Evans

Devoted Christian, mother of three, wife, nurse and daycare provider Josephine Lena Swinton passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015. Josephine was born in Washington, D.C. at Georgetown University Hospital on April 19,1940 to Joseph Swinton and Gladys Wilson Swinton. Josephine graduated from Wilson High School in May of 1958 and married Archie Quinton Evans on September 20, 1958. Five years later Mrs. Evans graduated from Temple University as an LPN. She is survived by: her husband of 57 years Archie Quinton Evans; daughter, Nicole Elizabeth Evans; son, Aaron Scott Evans; daughter-in-law, Yulin Dudley; two grandchildren, Daisy Eleanor Dudley and Ina Lee Evans; as well as many relatives and close friends. Her first born, Sean Joseph Evans (d) preceded her in death. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church, 6704 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, MD.
