June Aoki Callanan, age 93, began her journey on August 14, 1926 in Gifu City, Japan to the late Shimeji and Masao Aoki. June stopped counting years on July 10th, 2020 but continues to shine her light on this world. June was a devoted wife to her late husband, David Callanan, a loving mother to her late daughter, Peggy Fitzpatrick, a caring grandmother to Katie McShea and Peter McShea and an adoring great grandmother to Cooper McShea. June loved her kitty and pal, Stella. June gained her citizenship in the United States when moving from Japan. She lived in New York and then moved to Brandywine, Maryland with her husband and daughter, through the military. June was an active and vibrant member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the American Legion and VFW. Her enthusiasm led to her earning many awards and providing support for members of both organizations. She had a passion for learning and helped students at Brandywine Elementary School. June loved her career and continued her passion for learning throughout her life. She was forever generous and ensured that she made donations to the Smile Train organization and the school systems for children to reach their full potential. June was always up for an adventure. She loved to travel in her R.V. and visit places all around the country. She especially loved to take walks and adventure to the ice cream shop for a sweet treat on the weekends. Among many hobbies, she was an avid reader and loved to read, especially mysteries. She also enjoyed swimming, walking, creating floral arrangements, shopping, gardening, playing cards and decorating for all occasions. She was welcoming to all people and greeted everyone with a big smile and hello. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and joyful heart. Family and friends are invited to gather at Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, MD, on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. A memorial service will begin at 11 AM.
