June E. Gramsky

June 1, 1923 — January 20, 2017

June E. Gramsky, 93, of Temple Hills, MD passed peacefully on January 20, 2017 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake. Born in Arlington, VA the daughter of the late A. Ruth (White) Southworth and the late Palmer Southworth. June was a lifelong resident of Prince Georges County, MD. She met her future husband Merrin as a teenager while in high school. They eventually married in November 9, 1946 and were married 24 years until his death. Until his death she was a homemaker; at that time she took over the family business which she ran for several years. She then returned to work, first at the Capitol Center and then she returned to the government to work for the Department of the Navy at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC and then at Andrews Airforce Base. Upon her retirement she enjoyed traveling when she could. She loved the beach and the Outer Banks, NC was one of her favorite places where she enjoyed walks on the beach and looking for seashells. As her five children were growing, her home was like the teen center for the neighborhood. Crocheting and assembling puzzles were things she also enjoyed. She was lifelong parishioner of Saint Ignatius parish in Fort Washington as well as a member of the Ladies of Charity. She willingly helped her family and friends in need when able. Her favorite music was from the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s and Motown had a special place in her heart. She was sustained by her love for her family and friends as well as her devotion and her faith. Beloved wife of the late Merrin J. Gramsky “Fuzzy”; devoted mother of Susan E. Vogel-Hudgins (Randall) of Gambrills, MD, Christine M. Stillwell-Allen of Waldorf, MD, Anthony M. Gramsky (Sharon) of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Cecelia A. Gramsky of Odenton, MD and Teresa A. Duley (John) of Dares Beach, MD; loving grandmother of Evan J. Vogel, Robert M. Stillwell (Stephanie), Christina M. George (Bobby), Kaitlin M. Allen, Nicholas A. Gramsky (Denise), Sarah A. Diamond and Nicole M. Slick (Sean); dearest great-grandmother of Brooke Meyers (Joey), Haley Stillwell, Mason Stillwell, Preston George IV, Samuel George, Bryce Gramsky, Miles Gramsky, Ranier Gramsky, Ryan McDonald and Christopher McDonald; great-grandmother of Maverick Meyers. In addition to her parents, June was predeceased by her brothers Charles Southworth and John Southworth (Jack).
