Katherine Elizabeth Underwood "Betsy"of Accokeek, Maryland, died on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD. She was 95 years old.\nBorn on July 8, 1916 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Means. Katherine was an avid participant of the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department Bingo.\nShe is survived by her sons George (Carol), Charles (Janice), Thomas, Robert (Debbie) and David (Susan); daughters Ruth Ryan, Clara (Jack) Dickerson, Joyce Windsor, Evelyn (Shelton) McGinnis, Beverly (Jan) Etter, Bonnie (Alex) Sternack, Linda (Larry) Wooddruff and Hope (Ben) Said; special nieces Darlene, Melissa and Valerie Grimsley; 45 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.\nShe was preceded in death by her husband George Underwood, Sr.; sons James Underwood and Joseph Underwood, Sr.; granddaughters Angela Sternack and Carol Etter Smith.\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department P.O.
