Kathleen Jane Chaney
July 6, 1951 — May 17, 2024
Washington DC on Friday July 6'h 1951. She was the second child of the late Elmer and Frances Chaney. A
lifelong resident of Maryland. Graduated from Crossland Senior High.
Kathleen was the much loved Mom of Kathi (Henry). Beloved Grandmother to Christina (Cory) and Great
Grandmother to Colton. She was thrilled at the news of a Great Grand daughter arriving later this year.
Loving sister to big brother Jimmy and baby brother Randy. Aunt to 10 nieces and nephews. Great Aunt
Kat to 12 nieces and nephews. Mom to her daughter by another mother Melanie.
Lifelong friend to Rosemary (aka Animal). They lived in the same neighborhood and went to school
together. While hanging out at Rosemary's house one day they were being typical teenagers. Rosemary's
father came into the room and gave them the name Animals. Of course, from then on, they both enjoyed
their new name.
Kathleen had an active life. Worked at Layola Federal and worked at Total Comfort until 1997. She
enjoyed traveling. Spent many hours working with her mother on crafting projects. Crocheting, knitting
and sewing were among her many talents. Working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Reading a
good book and cooking were other enjoyments.
Kathleen was always thoughtful of others. She had a giving heart. The one thing she would want each of
us to remember about her, was her love for family. Her favorite saying was "Love you more".
She was proceeded in death by her beloved Glenn. Viewing wilf take place at Lee Funeral Home in
Clinton MD on Wednesday May 29'h at 10AM. Services will follow at 11AM. Intermit will be at Cedar Hill
Cemetery in Suitland MD.
