Kay Adams Aronhalt

June 19, 1941 — December 2, 2024

Kay Adams Aronhalt died on December 2nd at Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Kay was born June 19,1941, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Lawrence and Eva Adams.

She graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1959 and went on to attend Strayer College. In 1963 she married Edwin Aronhalt. Kay's love of politics took her to work on Capitol Hill for Congressman Robert Giaimo of Connecticut until his retirement in 1981. Kay went on to work as Parent Liaison at The Calverton School in Huntingtown, Maryland, where she headed the Calverton Auction and wrote the Beacon newsletter as well as numerous press releases.

Kay was a woman of strong faith and served at both Bethany Lutheran Church, Forestville and St. Nicholas Lutheran Church, Huntingtown in many leadership roles including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday school teacher, Director of Education, and Church Council President.

Kay's warm and caring nature made her easy to talk with, and she never met a stranger. She was always the last one to leave any event or church on Sunday. She took time to talk with everyone. Kay was devoted to her family and loved gathering them together, always with a smile and a sense of humor.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lawrence and Eva Adams; her brother, Lt. James Adams; her sister, Marcia Adams; and her brother-in-law, Douglas Lawrence. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years, Ed; her daughters Sheri Aronhalt Smith of Huntingtown, Maryland and Susan Lynne Aronhalt of Palmyra, Virginia; treasured grandson Zachary Robert Smith (Lakin) of Annandale, Virginia; and her great grandchildren, Oliver and Korra Smith.
