Kenneth Edward Lake, aged 63, passed away on December 23, 2022 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He was born in 1959 to Robert Edward Lake and Benita Van Steenburgh Lake. He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Cleary Lake, son Trey, daughter Wren, and brother Steve. He was kind, generous, and had a gift for conversation that he shared with everyone he crossed paths with. After earning a Bachlor's Degree from George Washington University on a baseball scholarship, Ken served as a civilian analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency and worked various jobs following his federal "retirement" that allowed him to do things that he loved, including coaching for multiple local schools and youth leagues. He was an extraordinary left handed pitcher and was inducted into the GW hall of fame. Ken was loved and well respected by friends, colleagues, teammates, family and the entire community.
His passions were evident to those close to him, most notably his love of baseball, which was influenced greatly by his parents at a young age. The sport was his first love, and it led him to the great love of his life, Ruth, who was introduced to him before a baseball game that they attended with friends. His passion for baseball lives on through his son Trey as well as many of the kids and young adults he coached throughout the years. Wren and Trey were his greatest pride, and rightly so. He was so proud of his two amazing kids and their accomplishments. He also found joy in family vacations, fantasy sports, the lottery, a plain steak with a baked potato (also plain, obviously), animal friends, local live entertainment, golf - amongst other sports, horse races, a good game of music bingo, Coca Cola, and most of all, winning!
Ken impacted so many lives in a number of different ways. He will be with us always. “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”—JACKIE ROBINSON
