It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Wayne Austin announce his passing after a massive heart attack, on Monday November 5, 2018, at the age of 54 years. Kevin was born in Australia on April 15, 1964 and grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Kevin attended the University of Maryland and attained a degree in Criminal Justice. Kevin was sworn into the United States Capitol Police on July 28, 1987 and served proudly and honorably until his retirement at the rank of Sergeant on August 31, 2012. Kevin enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kevin was an avid song writer and poet. He also loved to travel anywhere and everywhere. He loved motorcycling, hiking and fishing. Kevin lived in the moment and made every day count. Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his son, Conner Austin, his parents Ralph and Margaret Austin, his sister Sandra Caruso, His brother Edwin (Jane) Austin. Kevin will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, Brittany Caruso, Mallory Smith and Morgan Austin. A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the First Baptist Church Upper Marlboro, 7415 Crain Highway, Upper Marlboro, MD with Pastor Zach Schlegel officiating. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, in memory of Kevin can be made to the Upper Marlboro First Baptist Church Building Fund, American Heart Association or Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
