Kimberly Simms Rector

Kimberly Simms Rector, 59, of Princess Anne, MD passed away August 16, 2023.

Kimberly was born November 30, 1963 in Cheverly, MD to the late Wilma and Robert H. Simms, Jr. Kim was talented as a child in tap dance, playing the piano and once performed before actor Tony Curtis in a competition he was judging. She graduated 1981 from Frederick Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and worked as a homemaker most of her life, lovingly caring for her family. Kim was a devout Catholic, taught CCD classes at St. Mary’s of the Assumption School in Upper Marlboro, MD where she was humbly called upon by the students as “Miss Kim”. She also sang in the church choir. Kim loved reading James Patterson books, was an excellent puzzle solver, played bingo, enjoyed dancing, swimming, going to the beach, movies, traveling, watching sunsets, Nascar races, WWE Wrestling, her beloved Washington Redskins, having some steamed blue crabs with shrimp and would festively fix up the home for holidays while listening to her favorite music. She briefly worked for the Prince George’s County, MD Government doing secretarial work and was a member of the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, Kimberly was preceded in death by her late grandmother, Frida "Nana" Simms, brother, Robert H. Simms, III, mother-in-law, Viola (Coffren) Rector, father-in-law, Clarence Eugene Rector and brother-in-law, Harry Rector. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Rector, daughter, Faith Rector, niece and godmother to Dawn Simms, grand niece Serenity Simms, sister-in-law Martha (Rector) Piesto, brothers-in-law, Jon Piesto, Lee Rector, and John Rector, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held in honor and celebration of Kimberly's life 10:00am-12:00pm Tuesday August 29, 2023 at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 14908 Main St. Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 where a funeral service will take place at 12:00pm. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd. Clinton, MD 20735.
