LaDeanne “Dee” Rae Kowalski , age 86 of Chesapeake Beach, MD passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born January 6, 1939 in Pocatello, ID to the late Ray Lee and Alice Kipper (nee Christensen).
Dee loved living in Chesapeake Beach after leaving the home in Clinton where she raised her children. Being with her family, watching her grandkids play, shopping and spending time with her friends fulfilled her life. During her high school senior year, she moved to Maryland and attended Suitland High School. It was there she met her first husband, Jack Stueckler, and had their four children. She later married Arthur Kowalski and embraced his family.
She began her Census career on November 7, 1977 and retired in 2016 after nearly 40 years of service. While working at the Census Bureau, she also worked at the former Capital Centre in Largo, MD as a ticket seller in the evenings.
She is survived by her aunt, Karen Kunka; sisters, Myrlene Matala, Sally and Patty McCulloch; brothers, John (Fred) Lee and William (Bill) Kipper; husband, Art Kowalski; son, John Stueckler and wife Patricia (Patti); daughters, Terri Kramer, Tammy Gatton, Tina Severson and Dawn Goldsmith; grandchildren, Haley Hoyt, Conor Stueckler, Jake Kramer, Christopher Gatton, Tiana (Alex) Severson, Dakota Severson and Dylan Severson; eight greatgrandchildren with one on the way.
Visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home, Owings, MD January 16 5-8pm. Followed by her funeral at St. Anythony’s Catholic Church, North Beach MD January 17 11am. As an absolute animal lover, donations may be made in her name to the Calvert County Animal Shelter. She will be forever missed.
