The Life and Legacy of Mr. Larry Young, Sr., 78 years old:
He was preceded in death by his father, Landry Young, Sr., his mother, Mattie Rayno Young, oldest
brother Landry Young, Jr., and youngest brother, Ricky Young.
Larry graduated from Joseph S. Clark high School in New Orleans, Louisiana. After graduation, he
attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He later enlisted in the United States Air
Force and served his country for 21 years. M/Sgt Larry Young retired from the United States Air Force
at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia in 1985. After retirement, he continued working as a Civil Servant,
as a federal employee, at Ft. Myers, Virginia for 25 more years. His final retirement was in December
2010.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maryland, daughter, Larolyn, son, Larry Young Jr., daughter- in- love
Angelica Jimenez Young, and special son Kevin Vinson. Larry has five wonderful grandsons Janssen
(Maya), Jaeden, Armand, Darius, and his little buddy Cairo. One granddaughter, Angelica, and two
great granddaughters, Leilani and Peyton. Larry always enjoyed his special animated discussions with
Lucky O’Connor, they used to tell interesting, funny stories about “the good ole days of Masonry” and
“the good nowadays” of Masonry. Larry is also survived by his only living + brother, Dr. Alfred Young
(Angela) of Savannah, Georgia, two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Young and Barbara Young, and a host of
cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan. He has New Orleans Saints caps, jackets, blankets, etc. He
would proudly display these items when asked. Larry would faithfully attend Mardi Gras every year,
until his illness prevented him from traveling. He looked forward to cruising, especially the Soul Train
Cruise.
Larry was initiated into Donald E. Jones Lodge #121 PHA, at Lakenheath, England, in 1971. He
transferred to Mediterranean Lodge #149, PHA in 1977, in Naples, Italy. In 1978 he was created into
Aswan Temple #115, Frankfurt, Germany, PHA and also initiated into Prince Hall Military Consistory
#304, Frankfort, Germany. Larry and his wife, Maryland, are Charter members of the Order of Eastern
Star, Blazing Star Chapter #114, PHA, in Naples, Italy in 1979. Larry affiliated with MISR Temple #213,
PHA, in 1981.
