Laura Mae Byrd Hall was born in Waterproof, Louisiana on January 8, 1942 to parents Violetta Byrd and William Brown. She attended and graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School. Laura accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the early age of 11 years old. She loved attending Sunday School and church services. Laura loved to pray and seek the face of God for herself and others. She was truly an intercessor. After high school she moved to Washington, D.C. Laura worked for the Department of Commerce for a period of time as a clerk. She also worked for Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, National Geographic Society, and for many years at the American Greeting Card Company as a merchandiser. In 1969 she married Jerome, and from that marriage was born two daughters, Tiffany Hall and Tondalia Hall-Johnson. Laura loved poetry. She wrote many poems, many of which were published by the International Poetry Society, and her poetry has been distributed all over the world. Her poetry has been recorded on CD with several other poets. In 1964, Laura became a member of the Bibleway Church on New Jersey Avenue in Washington, D.C. She was a member at Bibleway Church for ten years. In 1978, God led her and her husband Jerome to Evangel Church on Rhode Island Avenue, where she was a member for more than 25 years. In 2005, she and her husband became members of the National Church of God on Bock Road in Fort Washington, Maryland. Laura’s motto truly was “If I can help someone, then my living will not have been in vain.” Laura is survived by her beloved husband; Jerome Hall, three children; Caroline Noel (Dominique), Tiffany Hall, and Tondalia Hall Johnson (Jay), four grandchildren; Amin, Vashon, Frederick, and Jordan, three great-grandchildren, and siblings; Joe Byrd, Corneal Byrd, Francis Dunn. She was preceded in death by her siblings; George Byrd and Blanche Byrd.
