Laurence A. Watson, Jr.

WatsonLaurence A. Watson, Jr. Born on Nov. 13, 1928 to Laurence, Sr. and Venus Watson of Washington, D.C. He passed away on Jan. 4, 2013 at the age of 84. He was the loving husband of the late Betty Watson and caring uncle to Diane (Conole) Shirley and Denise (Conole) Collins. Mr. Watson was a life time resident of Hyattsville, MD. It’s here that he served as a member of the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department. Laurence joined the United States Navy in 1948 and served during the Korean War until being discharged in 1953. After leaving the Navy he became a type setter for the Washington Star. When The Star closed, he went to work for The Washington Times until his retirement. In his free time Laurence enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in Laurence’s Honor to the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Dept.
