It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Henry Johnson, Jr. (Chip) of Upper Marlboro, MD, announce that he passed away suddenly at Prince George’s Hospital Center on December 17, 2016 at the age of 76. Lawerence, Chip, Mr. Johnson, Mr. J as he was know to so many was born on February 6, 1940 in Worcester Massachusetts, the son of the late Lawrence Henry Johnson, Sr. and Thayer Anderson Johnson. He is also proceeded in death by his sister Roxanne Johnson Notarangelo. He was a graduate of North High School in Worchester Mass where he excelled at athletics and was the Captain of the Football team. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a medical corpsman from 1959-1963. It was while he was in the Navy that he met the love of his life Anita Richmond who he married soon after his Honorable discharge.. Chip was a devoted husband and a loving, wonderful father. He is survived by his wife Anita Richmond Johnson, their 4 children Laura Lee Johnson and her partner Emily Merkel of Upper Marlboro, MD, Lisa Anne and her husband Charles Caruolo of Huntingtown, MD, Michael Lawrence and his wife Victoria of Mechanicsville, MD, Mark Andrew and his wife Gwendolyn of Mechanicsville, MD, and grandchildren, Jimmy, Greg, Kiera, Nathan, Ian, Andrew, Mike, Trevor, Kylee, Jeremy, Kaden, Benjamin, Shaelyn, Nick and Matt. Also, survived by his sister Linda Johnson, as well as, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends, family and loved ones. He was a Veteran and proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He continued to serve others as an Orthopedist in Maryland for more than 40 years, where he became loved by so many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in his name to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
